Baby Yoga

Baby Yoga is an interactive routine which is performed with a baby and it’s primary care givers. The parent or carer will help the baby into carefully developed movements that are adapted to the baby’s tender body. These movements include gentle stretching of limbs, and help develop correct breathing by encouraging baby to mimic their parent or care giver’s breathing. The style of baby yoga taught is based on Hatha yoga which means ‘the union of balance of body and mind’. Baby yoga classes aim to be both a fun and rewarding experience for both baby and carer.

Baby yoga is a centuries old tradition that provides both baby and parent with significant and undisputed benefits that are widely endorsed by medical practitioners across the world. Tension within the body can block the flow of energy and cause the body to tighten and become painful. Yoga helps release the blockages of tension in the body.

Benefits of Baby Yoga include:

  • Improved relaxation, encouraging longer sleep duration and better quality of sleep
  • Strengthens their bodies and helps develop reflexes
  • Helps balance, co-ordination and motor skills
  • Helps relieve effects of colic, wind and constipation
  • Stimulates all of baby’s major systems: co-ordination, respiration, digestion, learning ability and language development
  • Relaxes parent and child
  • Helps strengthen bond between parent and child
  • Promotes confidence in handling baby
  • Offers great opportunity for Dads to get involved
  • Aids bonding, trust and social interaction whilst improving learning and social development
  • Great social environment for parent and baby
